Behind the scenes there is a group of people doing their best to support the students and staff at Tekamah-Herman Schools. Their recent actions have made everyone at Tekamah-Herman really happy!
As the new all-inclusive playground construction is underway, THS recess time lacks fun activities to do. Knowing this, our PTO decided to step in and help! A trip to Scheels and a ton of balls later, the kids seem to be filling their recess time engaging in all sorts of sports and activities. Along with play balls of every kind, also purchased was an outdoor volleyball net, jump ropes, and a disc golf station.
To help the staff start the year off right, Tekamah-Herman’s PTO purchased T-shirts for each staff member. The T-shirts introduce and promote each level’s 2024-2025 school year theme. The elementary staff can be seen sporting a white shirt with their theme “PLAY”, and the secondary staff’s purple shirt has their theme “Give It All You Got”.
Elementary Principal Apryl Beck added, “I am incredibly grateful for the generous and consistent support our PTO organization provides Tekamah-Herman Schools. We have such a giving community and organization, and they donate funds for almost every project and purchase our staff requests. Thank you!”
Tekamah-Herman’s PTO Chapter was founded in the early 2000’s and has had many members over its years of existence. Currently, Jeanine Gammel is serving as the group’s President, Blair Magill as Vice President, Sarah Braniff as Secretary, and Lyndsay Rix is the active Treasurer. Tekamah-Herman’s PTO has participated in many activities over the years to support the children, staff, and parents of the Tekamah-Herman School District. Some favorites are Parent/Teacher Conference staff meals, Christmas gifts, Teacher Wish List items, and Teacher Appreciation Week goodies. We are also grateful for our Tiger mascot costume, the Tekamah-Herman backdrop, additions to the concession stand appliances and fixtures, and the Tiger benches around our buildings. There are too many gestures and support to mention here.
Anyone who wishes to jump in and help is welcome to join the members of Tekamah-Herman’s PTO. Follow their Facebook page or contact any of the members above to help. Monetary donations are currently being accepted at Washington County Bank.
In closing, a quick shout-out to our summer high school employees: Camdan Chase, Kale King, Kaleb Kjar, and Devon Gammel. Among many responsibilities, they had to unpack and pump up all the new balls.
